I want to "break" this into pieces to place in the 180. which will be set up in the next two weeks. But i know for a fact the paint on here is not silica based. therefore not ready for aquariums. Does anyone know of any sprays to "seal" the paint on this? only post ones that you or someone you know personally used. no guesses please. only facts. thanks in advance!
That vase of yours looks pretty neat-tique....Think about topping it off with a small cylinder fish tank(dwarf puffers)....Maybe surrounding it with vines and placing it on Large pebble rock in the coner of a room...Sort of like your local Japanese Tea Garden....
Try not to add accessories that require chemical cleansing...Other than coral rock glue, the occassional medication, and dechlorinater, I do not add any "chemies" to my water....I had a few large tanks with the same set up...Big potting pots cracked in half, layed on its side...Home Depot...Just my 2cents of thoght on your topic.....
althought yes this may be true. a year ago i bought it for that sole reason. and it has sat for a year till the right time. now is that time. i dont mind handpainting the entire thing in aquarium silicon if it comes down to that. i dont mind the time. the question is how? but thanks for the concern. just not needed. i wont put it in there unless im 100% it wont hurt anyone.
plus. i plan on using a silicone based spray or finish. so its nothing harmful to the fish. its like the silicone in the corner of ur tank. thats why im looking.
or instead of sealing it. anyway to strip all the paint off of it? then i can soak it and it should be fine. no paint or chems to worry about at all.
but what can i get that would strip the paint but not eat the resin cast away? hmms.
"If you are looking for spray paint, "Krylon Fusion" is inert, and is safe to use inside and outside of the aquarium.
Nope. Its aquarium safe. It won't leech into the water, or anything.
When I was building an overflow for my salt tank, I painted it black under the recommendation of a guy on another forum with the krylon fusion paint. Thats what he uses on all of his."
go for it.. but you might wanna give it a test run first... set up a temp tank and let it get all cycled and whatnot.. get a fish or 3 going in it (new fish would be best).. let them get cycled.. then try yer pot thing... if it kills them then atleast you didnt lose any of your fish... and if they live... "hey new fish"
youve already waited a year to do this.. so whats another 2-3 months...
