all pygocentrus genus can be kept in shoal which includes red belly, Terns, caribe and piraya.
couple serrasalmus genus also had success being kept in shoal, such as geryi and gold spilo/mac
if you have no experience of keeping piranhas then I would recommend start with red bellies first as they are most available and are the cheapest

Ive had red bellies before. Was mainly wondering about black and brandti because there available. I like elongatus but they have to be kept alone right?

the three piranhas you mentioned are all serrasalmus genus and have to be kept solo in home aquarium. I'm sure you can keep multiple ones together but you'll need a very very very large aquarium or pond, that's how mother nature does it :D
black piranha is a common name, we here call it Serrasalmus Rhombeus, aka rhom.

one of the toughest if not the toughest, def. way tougher than manny

Wimples are not true piranha but they can shoal. I've heard that Geryi's can shoal though I never actually seen it. At least where I live buying enough of either of those two species to create a shoal would be big bucks. I would love to see a Geryi shoal in a big enough tank that would be a thing a beauty.

one of p-fury member's old shoal
