I have one of the plastic livebearer breeders that has spent many days stuck to the side of my tank with a magnetic algae cleaner. I used that because 1) I was tired of the stupid thing sinking 2) What I was trying to keep in the breeder jumped out of the tank every time I went to feed them. I was thinking, guppy fry from feeder guppies is very, very tiny and my fish would love a treat like that. Do you think it is possible for me to put two dozen feeders in it the way I have it set up and just let them breed. The babies would enter the tank and my fish would have a snack all the time. Has anyone else done this before? Here is a picture of the way the breeder is set up.

so i take it from your sig that you are keeping this "Refugium" in a brakish tank right?, in which case it actuly seems like a realy good idea, but guppies should be kept 1 male to 5 females so the male dosnt stress the one female to death with his insacable lust, this may be a problem since they are normaly about 1-5gallons. although once a female has been popped she dosnt need the male any more, the female guppy holds the sperm for up to 6months giving birth every month or so(20-30 days), so if you can get about 4 female guppies on diffrent cycles this would keep your fish pretty happy and fed. my cichlids for some reason wont touch guppies though... but the love ghost shrimp and craw fish. go figure the one thing i have too much of they dont eat.:D

You mean an auto feeder. Depending on what your salinity is at it should work out fine, other than size constraint.

I will get a bigger breeder if I can find one. This is just the one I have now. As for being cramped, they're feeder guppies, it'll be less cramped than in the feeder tank at the LFS.

I have a female molly in the tank now, my stonefish ate her mate. Mollies take too long to breed. I want guppies because I can get a dozen for a dollar and they breed every 3 weeks. I just want something really, really tiny that my fish can have to eat all the time so they aren't going nuts. That and my dat is really shy and it will make me feel better knowing something is in the tank, that I bred, that he can have to eat all the time.
