Ok. My wife and i bought a new home and have a nice basmenet that is half finished. I would like to build the 220 into the dividing wall that is between the finished portion and the storage area. That way i could get to the back of the tank for feeding and manintance.

How do i go about building the stand to hold it close enough to the wall that all i would need is some trim work to make it look flush with the wall ???

any advise welcome also and links would be great !!!!!

thanks for any and all help !!!!

(p.s. yes i tried the search button but came up with WAY to much unrealated info. )

a friend of mine had a tank about that side in his wall. except his front was in the living room and the back went into a closet in the spare bedroom. all he did was cut out whole, reinforced where the tank was going to be and in the closet just built a basic frame out of 2x4's. nothing fancy since it wouldn't be seen ne ways. since ur back is going to be in a storage area u could even get by with using stacked up concrete blocks.

I have the exact setup half finished basement 220 gallon. I just finished my build this week. I got to scared to make it flush, inorder to make it flush it would have to be sitting on the sheet rock.

I put mine so that the sheet rock is touching the tank and then I have trim, unless you walk all the way up to the tank you can't tell. I got pics if you want.

I ordered the tank and built the stand not having any idea this is what I was going to do with it. I got so lucky the stand only has 2.5" clearance total so I have only like 1.25" on each side of the stand between the stand and the wall. So I can forget ever cleaning the sides of the tank.

i like the block idea nice and sturdy !!!! i guess it would work if i notched out the footer board ?? not sure that would be good for the rest of the wall.

In the pictures above, if you build the lower part of the wall the same heigth as the tank stand, you can slide the tank forward into the openning in the wall so the tank in more flush with the wall instead of it being recessed slightly into the wall

flush is what i would like... or at least real close.

yes pics PLEASE !!!!!!!! this sounds just like what i am going for

in the picture i made the tank is technically flush with the wall its self. i just added some trim to the wall around it - the trim isn't a must, just a nice little touch. kind of like having a huge living picture or something

oh i see why it looks like its sitting back quiet a bit, stupid google sketchpro would start deleting stuff if i tried to delete the black lines on the bottom and up the side. good program but it has a mind of its own sometimes
