In your opinon..... I have a couple of dats; the largest one is only 6" maybe a little over; what, in your opinion; what would be the size of the smallest dat. I guess my question is could I mix my 2-2.5" dats with my 5 - 6.5"ers.... would this be possible.. I think not; but I have seen other that have 3"ers with like 11, 12, 13"ers.... could i add my smaller dats yet???

Shouldn't be a problem. Dats can be housed together peacefully with ridiculous, even cartoonish, size disparities. Dats seem to know that those dorsal spines are not to be trifled with. However, larger dats will get the lion's share of food, so make sure to feed small chunks of whatever you're feeding to ensure that the little dats don't starve.

I have the same expirience with my dats. They do the whole stalking thing to the little guys and then the babies bow up and brighten then the big ones leave them alone. Kinda funny

what about my 4.5 loaches and my 5.5- 6 " bichir; would they leave my fish smaller NGT's alone...

Loaches would be fine but I have a senegal bichir that takes snaps at my 2" dat. He isn't quick enough to catch but it makes me nervous

I have kept 3-4" with my 3 10" widebars and the 12" too. There are also large pbass in there too. Dats for some reason dont seem to have "the shape" of a predators average diet. If that makes sense.

Agree.

Feeding them will be the biggest problem.
