hi guys,

i have a fairly new ray, joining my other 3 rays and im wondering why is it so inactive compared to the other 3 who are always surfing around and being so lively. this new ray jus stays in one corner and only moves when there is food near him. other than that it stays inactive when the lights are on. when the entire room is dark (when im gonna sleep), it then starts to explore. is this normal?

It is trying to tell you something. It wants the lights off. I do this with any fish or ray I buy. Leave the lights off for sometime and let it adjust to its surroundings. Good luck with the new addition.

Just need some time yes. Some gets active at once, some need time. Same goes if you change the inventory, some of the rays can get really pissed when you do so. Some dont care at all. I have one male motoro that is 3 years, he is still pretty inactive\lazy. Comes when there is food.

If he is eating and showing no visible signs of stress (Heavey breathing / sores) then I would keep your regular routine. He will adjust to it. Appears he is a bit on the shy side.
