I have a male 6 inch ebjd and a 5.5 inch female regular jd and their about to spawn...im thinking of getting rid of the female after the spawn and introduce a female gold jd...now if I breed gold gene to blue gene will it still be inbreeding if they only have the same father??

Still inbreeding - yes. In the end all the EB's are related, but the more distantly related you can get them the better. You would be better off getting another line of EB's from someone else and work those into your plans.

Also, your EB x normal JD will produce blue gene fry. The EB x gold will produce blue gene gold gene fry. If you cross these together you should get 25% EB's, and half of those will carry the gold gene and the other half won't and you can't tell which are which unless you breed them to a fish with known genetics. And the 75% that look like normal JD's will have a mix of genes also from JD's that don't have either the gold or EB gene, to gold genes, to blue genes, to gold gene blue genes. You would be better off breeding your EB x Gold and then buy some platinums from another breeder and cross those with your fry. This will give you more diverse genetics and a breeding pair that produces both some platinums and EB's. Just my opinion...

Great info thank you n I will defi etly follow your advice...and I know exactly who has platinums right now
