hi i am having real issues trying to clear one of my cichlids of internal parasites. i've done the whole metro+ treatment... jungle internal parasite medication etc. etc. this thing does NOT go away. it's been a number of weeks now and there's still stringy poo coming out. i'm ready to throw in the towel. the fish is still swimming around but not eating and long stringy white poop hanging out :(
help!!!!!

Check out the www.rockymountaindiscus.com site and look for their metronidazole based food additives. they are more effective than the water additives and should work.

I would suggest using Clout right away. I keep tropheus and petros and when they get bloat, I treat with Clout. This medication has never let me down.

Have you discovered why the fish got bloat to begin with?

well it's too late... i came back from vacation and the black nasty was dead :(
it started getting bloat each time i did water changes... i haven't been doing anything different, although my water changes are now around 25$ as opposed to 60+% when it was warmer...
i was treating with metro+ and the water temp was around 82F...

darn it... never lost a fish to bloat before :(

I make sure that the temperature in the water is the same temperature in the new water I am putting in. By changing the temperature by more than 6 degrees, your fish might become stressed and bloat. One of my fish got bloat right after I wasa done treating for ich. This already happened to one of my fish, and it died when its tumor burst. (Fish cancer? It said on the bottle "warning: may cause cancer")

Internal parasite meds aren't real effective if you just put them in the water.

I use gel tek and soak the food in it then feed it. It works very well and gets rid of the parasites pretty quick.
Our new jag came in with a really terrible parasite infection, his belly was VERY sunken in, and it cleared him up within a matter of a week.
