I know that Indian Almond leaves are traditionally used on bettas to harden their scales, boost bacterial immunity and promote breeding. I was wondering if I could use almond leaves with breeding convict cichlids to?

It's used for fish that come from soft, acidic, and tannin-rich waters. Convicts adapt to most water conditions. I don't know if where they come from the water's acidic, soft, and tannin rich. But with some research I'd think you'll find out.

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt though.

Alright I'll look more into that. Thanks!

Cons will breed in a mudpuddle. You dont need anything special to get them to breed, just the obvious male/female combination and get ready for thousands of fry.
