I don't think you should experiment with any "extreme condition".
Having said that, if you're not sure if you can house Datnoids, it will be cheaper to get American Tiger (Silver Dats, Datnoides Polota) rather than Indos.
Approx cost of ATs (~2.5") is about 100 INR. Costs of similar sized Indos is about 2000 INR.
Also note, Dats are very very very slow growers. So be prepared to keep a 50-90 Gal tank reserved for these dats till they can be housed with your Silver Aro and bichir. (Your RTC might be already be too big for any indoor tank by then.)

I had 6 ITs and 1 AT. One day the AT suddenly died after having him for over 2 months. All my ITs are fine

Currently (i.e. this past weekend), ATs are available at Lakeland. They are sometimes available at Tausif's also. And you can check at other places.
Shakeel ("Shakeel Bhai") at Lakeland will give you a good deal if you start the negotiations/haggling stating you are buying half dozen AT.
Also, as the experts here will probably confirm, if you are buying 2" Datnoids (esp. ATs) get more than 4. Half dozen seems like a good number.
And Mumbai (Bombay) is blessed with a municipal water-supply which is perfect for aquarist. The water is neutral and not very hard or very soft.
As long as you do weekly water changes and have adequate biological filtration, your fish should not experience "extreme conditions".

Also note these Dats (available at the store) are TINY (<2 inches) and absolutely can not be housed with your RTC, Arowana etc.
(On another note: what kind of Bichir do you have? What size? Let me know if you want to sell it.)
