Hey guys, recently my smallest dat has stopped eating and also stopped hiding in the caves...
I checked him this morning and found a white area/patch on his eye on both sides...
Is he going blind?
Another problem is that I have a bigger indo around 4 inches who is the "bully" he attacks everyone that enters cave, introduced a NTT that is an inch or so bigger and they fought and im thinking he won, because the NTT is now hiding and not coming out and the indo is still doing his thing...

Will it be because he got attacked ? stressed ? or is he really having a problem with his eyes?

Here's the pic of him, the white speck/area in his eye is what bothers me. Oh and its not flash on camera...

Sorry for double post,
Just checked him again and the white speck/area is on the outside of the eye and not the inside.
Also just did a 15-20% water change.
Is there anything else I can do ???

Thanks,
Swarsh

Checked parameters last night:
pH: 7.8/8
Nitrite 0ppm
Nitrate 0ppm
Ammonia 0-0.25

So the water is ok right?
will it be down to stress and him getting attacked by my bigger indo?

Swarsh

possible rub with the decoration surfaces for stress of another dats. Can you separate him? if the water parameters are Ok, he is recovery in 2 days. Not illnesses, only stress, but; be careful.

Yeah, I'm getting rid of the "bully" tomorrow.
So hopefully that will solve all the problems, if not i have a seperate tank I can put him into for a while~

Hopefully he won't go blind on me :(

Thanks for replying all,
Swarsh

Update:
As of today, my little dat has died :(
Hopefully after getting rid of the "bully" the rest of the fish in my tank will be ok...

Your water is NOT ok!
Water change and fast! Try to figure out why u have ammonia reading?
How long has tank been cycled?
Left over food trapped under wood maybe?

I never worry about cloudy eye. But the no eating as well is not good.

Sorry for your loss.

With hiding spaces:
1) tigers can and will often fight like crazy over hiding spots
2) dirties the water , food and fish waste stck to wood, and can get trapped under

Yeah, I think the main reason of death was the stress/bullying from the bigger indo~
I will be changing my filter media soon, getting some ammo-ex...
Cleaned the whole tank, now that the "bully" is gone, everyone is eating well...

If only I noticed earlier and taken the bully out... sigh...
He was my favourite Dat too...!

Thanks for replying Abe,
Swarsh
