Purchased from two different stores as 'Indo Dats'

-I'm somewhat new to dats but have researched the Borneo vs Sumatra differences.I figure its unlikely to find a symmetrical 4 bar Sumatra dat in a LFS with a batch labeled '4 bar indos'

- looking for some pro I.D. info as to why these two individuals are the same or possibly different

Anyhow,what Pointx has are two different indo variants;the one that has thre bars on one side of it's body is commonly referred to as an oddball indo since it has different stripe patterns on each side of it's body.The other one with the more or less uniform stripes is what is sometimes referred to as a classic indo due to it having the same five or six bars on both sides.

When people talk about the bars, are we talking about the black or the white? And where do you start and end the count? Every time I think I have it figured out, I realize I still don’t get it.

I've never heard of the light part referred to as bars,that has always been known as the base color.Most people seem to start at the first bar after the eye slash.

Thank you. Where do the bars stop the count? Is it right at the anal fin, just after that or do the tail bars count as well? Sorry for such (basic) simple questions here.

For example on the last pic the Dat on the right has (to me) 5 bars then 2 on the tail. Or is that last one above the anal fin not counted?

No apology necessary,I just want to be able to answer your questions as best that I can and to be honest I dont even get into the amount of bars a particular dat has as there is no real significance to it in my opinion.It all comes down to personal preference and if there are more than three bars I don't really care.
