guys im setting up a new tank for my 8 indo datz, 2 endli,1 albino sen, 2 florida gar.. i might add leopoldi rays and aro in new tank and some other to increase the stability of dats.. but still doing research for this compatability.. my datz is my main concern..

i'm very budgeted at the time.. i just do research with fish tank maker in my area(hard to get 2nd hand one).. they say the height is the most important for calculating the thickness of glass which also affecting the price of the tank mostly.. i'm planning to have around 7-10 ft long x 3-4 ft width x still not sure about the height..

the cost of 60cm height is around $300
70cm is around $400
80cm is around $600
90cm is around $1000
100cm is around $1500

it's impossible for me to get 90cm above since the price is doubling..

any advice on minimum requirement for datz and these fish?

PS: Mod sorry if i have post in the wrong section.. because my main concern is my Datnoid.. feel free to move my thread..

You don't need a very tall tank with dats because they like to stay on the lower and middle parts of the water most of the time. Most of the dats I've seen will eat pellets from the surface and quickly go back down to the bottom of the tank. You need a long tank and the height isn't that important (same thing goes for your bichirs). If you get a 3ft wide and 7 ft long tank, you can keep those dats for life in that tank.

But it seems like you're paying a lot for a new tank to be made. You should just buy a good used one. You'll save at least 50% of the money.

thanks! :) i decided to go with 250cm long x 100cm width x 75cm height.. is this should be good for them? can i add more livestocks later? any advice?

it's really hard to get good used 6feet tank and above in my home country.. i hope i can find one since i still have around 2 months to search around..

Whoa, that tank is huge! That's got to be 400 U.S. gallons? With that size tank, you can keep all the fish in your first post and add stingrays and add asian arowanas too if you wanted. That's enough space for many monster fish to grow in for the rest of their lives.

I didn't see you live in Singapore. Here in the US, most of my friends just buy a used tank from Craigslist and save a lot of money. I'm sure in Singapore you can buy a used one online somewhere to save money too.

i wish there's alot craiglister in indonesia too.. lol.. i just stay in singapore for school and internship.. still 1years to go.. after that i'll go back to my home country indonesia :) and there i'll set up all the things.. currently i have 8 2" datz , 2 5" florida gar and 2 4inch Endli on 75g in my dorm.. slowly i'll move it to 100g in indonesia while waiting my 8feet tank ready.. my saving should be enough to afford that tanks in 2 months after that time to save for livestocks :grinno:..
(btw price above is already include the sump tank).

wait you can get a 7x3x 60cm tank for 300 with a sump?that comes out to around 300 gallons BUY IT
any way good luck with the dats and if you get an asian aro with the dats im realy looking forward to seeing how the tank turns out :D

if you want to keep the tigers for life you will need deeper than 60cm as they have a very deep body so need a deeper tank

i would say you need a 70-80cm deep tank for life
