Morning everyone! I currently have a ~5" Indo Dat and am curious if a Silver Dat could be house with him too. There is a black Arowana, 6 bichirs (future some are growing) and 6 tin foil barbs in the tank with them. Tank is 80x48x30" on a drip system, currently doing 1gph, but can easily be upped if needed. My main concern is temperament. TIA!

Thanks for the shout out!....oftentimes dats squabble and fight when thete are just two of them in a tank and sometimes they get along so it is hard to say.I have had indos and silvers together and aggression was minimal but I had a small group of dats.

Appreciate the feedback! I may try it, I'll see if any other advice trickles in here. I do have a place for the fish to go should the need arise.

Good that you have a back up plan in case things don't work out with the two of them together.

Do you really have to have an AT in the mix?
I would consider another IT instead.

Considering your tank size plus the 6 TFBs already in, it might work.

My 6" IT and other smaller ones are being constantly harrased by a 4" AT. But he has to stay in there for the moment. Removing him back to his own tank once he is done teaching my ITs to accept pellets.

I was just thinking the AT to add variety. It isn't something that I MUST do, just thought it'd be neat to do.

It definitely would add variety in the tank. Unlike ITs, ATs are bolder and more interactive. Always out and about.

Readily accept any given food.

My AT must be a wuss then, he's always running away and hiding.

While a lot of people keep ATs in fresh (including me atm) I think long term they probably do better in a brackish set up.

Yep,that has been my experience with them as well. They may be the ugly ducklings of dats but their behavior is more to our liking.
