Indoor pond filtering and stocking help

I have a indoor pond I want to set up but dont know how to filter and what to stock it with. The pond is 6'x15" apporximatly 258 gallons.

The best setup I've seen was a raised diy sump. Water pumped up into sump from the pool, goes through socks media ect...then trickles back into the pond. seems flawless to me

That sounds great but I would like to have an open floor. Maybe a canister type or sump.
