i want to make a pond 48"x24"x24" hold about 110 gallons when a few inches from top, i was thinking 1/2" plywood inner wall 2x4 framing with tongue and groove knotty pine wall boards for outer, i'm not sure how to frame the walls, i was thinking like walls in a house, or should i just do a line of spaced out horizontal 2x4's going down the wall and mitre the corners. i'm just not sure what would be strongest or am i worrying to much, i know 100 gallons or so is not super heavy
thanks

First...

:mwave::welcome::mwave:

At 24" use 4 horizonal's... foot plate, then 6" up the 12" up, then top. overlap the ends and bolt them together.

Are you going to use a liner?

Use Styrofoam insulation (2") to help regulate temp. in the summer, unless you heat it, you won't be able to over-winter fish in it tho. (too shallow,above ground and not enough thermal mass :().

Ontario huh? Small place, you must know my uncle, say Hi for me.:D

thanks dr joe, that's a yes on the liner, it's going to be indoors for me and my daughters pet RES "Shrek" and a large goldfish or two, sorry forgot to mention it. although the styrofoam is a good idea ,would lighten the load on the heater either way i would imagine.
i'll be sure to say hi to your uncle lol

Indoors the Styrofoam will help stabilize the temp on a daily basis, which in turn will help with the heater.

Consider netting to cover the top to keep jumpers in and Daughters out too.

My LFS has 'em, but they want 250 for them...how much did yours charge?
