I am looking at building a 600g-1000g indoor pond for my 3 female RES turtles. There is not going be a viewing window or anything just plywood and liner. This pond will be located in my garage and because I live in NJ our winters can get pretty cold, summers aren't to bad. What kind of heaters do you guys recommend so the water can stay warm for these guys? Is there anything else I can do during build to help with heat loss? Insulation? Cover somehow?

Secondly what do you guys do for filters? I'm not use to huge tanks like this so I don't know what would be best and most cost efficient for me.

Still nothing? Haven't build yet been busy but hoping to gather material soon.

Insulation is the key to regulating the temperature at a reasonable cost. You should also add a cover to the pond. Sometimes it is cheaper to insulate and heat the room rather than the pond.

I have a slightly used kio pond heater that I'm looking to part ways with, would work awesome for your situation. Pm me if interested.
