I am building a indoor pond that is going to be used for stingrays and a couple stingray friendly fish, i dont know yet what. Anyways the dimentions I am thinking of so far are anywhere between 5' long by 3 wide by 1.5 tall to 8 long, 4 wide and 2.5 tall.
My current idea is to make a tank/pond hybrid, like only have the tank water surface be about 3-4 feet off the ground but then then to make one side out of acrylic so its like a cross section of a pond. I was wonding about sealing pond liner to acrylic though, what could I use because I have heard that regular silicone sealent will not do and will come apart from the pond liner. Ideas?
My second question is about the location. I have alot of space in an indoor pool room for this so I could make it huge and awsome but then at the same time I am worried about chemical in the air. The pool is covered 97% of the time and I cant really smell any chlorine in the air because its a hybrid of salt water and chlorine. My theory is that if I can breath that air without problems anything in the air that is dissovled into the water should be all right for fish. There is also a dehumidifier installed in the room. What are your guys thoughts on this?
Next question is what size acrylic would be minumum for an 8 long by 2.5 high expanse?
Next question is how thick of ply wood for the rest of the tank would I need if it were reinforces by a 2x4 and 4x4 frame?
Thanks!
