does any one here have a indoor tropical pond??? if you have built one post some pics or good ideas.. i have tossed around the idea of turning the basement in to a tropical pond.. but nice to the point that you walk down through it like a mini version of an aquarium. so you can see fish in water not just from a top view like you typical outdoor setup.. sounds like allot to do but i guess all we have is time right.. i you got pointers let me know.

I have one...but its only a 8'x2' round cattle trough. not the whole basement..that would be cool though if u could figure our a efficient means of getting rid of the moisture.

it has been done.. satans goldfish has one... he is having trouble sealing the tank right now but you cant treat it like a tank in the since of making it just have it sit down and filter next to or behind. I have mine in the mental planning stages. but just might make it a tank not sure yet.

also the thefishguy has a big tank that was 800 and made it bigger to 1100 i think. goes from the floor up which is probably what you are also thinking about

yes that is exactly my thoughts.. from the floor up maybe like 4-5ft tall.. im still in mental stages aswell

just remember the tall the tank/pond the thicker the glass. Glass is whats going to make this cost more then some people have to spend. but keep planning and reading.

Is exactley right, they might not be as fancy but I have seen several people use swimming pools , and could build a deck around it and possibly build a bridge going across it.... possibilities are endless:headbang2

I plan on building a monster tank, 5,000 gallons or more, once I move. I found out in my planning that I could significantly reduce the cost/thickness of my acryllic by starting my viewing window about 2.5ft above the ground as opposed to lower. Water pressure is a function of depth, not volume so therefore affects the thickness of acryllic youll need. Have a couple rows of block beneath your window and youll save $$ too
I hope I made sense.

pool sounds like a great ideah but remember i want it inside and i also want to see in to the tank as the fish swim not just top veiw. so i might have to fork up some money on decent thick glass or someother alternative. maybe a solid frame with cut outs of glass to see in?? i dont know yet but it looks amazing in my head!!! LOL

yes it makes sence.. that is pretty much what i was thinking i just need to sit down and blueprint it all out

I don't remember the name of the guy, but if you search this site, there is a guy with a 50,000 gallon tank in his basement. The thread is pretty detailed in the building process too.
