Put your rock or wood(heheh) near the front of the tank, so when the knives think that theyre hidden, theyll be right in front of you
as for the night light you could use a clip-on painters light fixture from HD with a colored compact fluorescent bulb
but you should probably put the money toward the tank youll be needing in a few months

As far as the night lighting. I saw an article where someone used an old aquarium light and retrofitted it with blue Christmas lights. It word really well as a cheap option for moon lighting.

petsmart has blue florescent night lights which you can also buy in white red or green to use during the day. there small and just sit on the top of ur tank or u can suction cup them to the side or back and rotate or tilt the light at the angle you want. there really nice. the light itself is like 13 and then the hub u plug it into is like 15 dollars. eachhub can hook up 3 lights. i have one blue light hooked up into the center of my 125 aquarium and it works well and lets me see my cats at night.

couple different strategies you can put some cheap plastic under the bulb so light will shine through the plastic or some blue saran wrap around the bulb housing

I bought a blacklight a long time ago for about 10 bucks. I sometimes use this on my 75 gallon tank for a moonlight. you could easily just buy a desktop lamp and buy a blacklight bulb. this is very very cheap

I thought of the idea of using a piece of gutter for housing (less than $7 for a 10' section and cut it to the length of your tank) and putting end caps on the ends. A hole could then be bored out of either the end or the back for the power cord for a blue LED rope light and use zip ties to hold the light in the gutter. I haven't tried it yet but when money permits I'll be trying it for when i get my BGK.

i used this idea. just buy some blue christmas lights and fit em into your lighting fixture. by far the cheapest way to make a moon light.
