if you're house is cools down ridiculously, your gecko has no place to hide that would keep him at least semi warm, and you don't have an undertank heater than yes.
otherwise, if you don't have an undertank heater, i'd only leave it on during the day.
if you really really want to leave it on, no harm should come to him.

I leave my 50 watt bulb on my one ball python tank 24/7 just because I don't have an UTH on that tank yet.........You should be fine I would just make sure it isn't getting too hot in there........
