I have kept fish for years and have kept many red tail cats, but recently I picked up a Red Tail Cat that requires me to take notice. He is a ridiculous looking red tail one of the best I have seen and to top it off he is like owning mans best friend of the water. So needless to say I will probably break the bank on this one. Any tips or advice is needed on this one, red tail cats are not in my league. Anyone out there do a cost effective large DIY project to house these guys? Any comments appreciated.

Best to have a look in the diy section buddy there are loads in there.

good luck and dont forget the pics.

How big is he now? You could have him in a 300g rubbermaid tub for quite a while. They are like 200 buck's.
Wheres the pics? I want to see this REDtail catfish.

New or used. If it's new could you please setup a link so I can figure out where to order or buy one of these.

I'm with you, where is it that you saw this?

Getting a flip camera this weekend will post a video of me hand feeding him.

aquaticeco.com carries a 1000 gal polyethylene bin that'll do this cat fine for a long time. They even offer window kits to allow you to view the fish as you would through an aquarium wall. The tanks are 92" diam x 44" tall, weigh only 140 lbs, are easily drilled for standard bulkheads, and are under $900 (not including window installation(s) and shipping). They're worth a look.

Here's an example of a windowed poly bin they carry:

Not sure where in texas you're at, but I saw this at:

MG Building Materials
San Antonio, Tx.

I went to this small building supply store just to see what they had and I noticed these stock tanks out front. There were a few sizes that I briefly looked at because I've been craving a BIG cat for quite some time. RTC's and TSN's are definitely on my wish list, but not realistic at the moment. Saw these things and got my hopes up...UNTIL I remembered i live in an apartment :cry::cry:

Anywhooo, not 100%, but I believe the largest one was 9' across and 2' deep for $300:headbang2
