Hard to say. Can be from water issues to infection. I know it's a recently setup tank. Water quality ok?

Add some salt (not Epsom) 1 tsp per 5g and/or maracyn 2 should fix it.

No water is ok. 0 ammonia qnd oess than 10ppm nitrate.
Used established media.

I have kanaplex and e.m. erythromycin on hand can either of them be used ? If so can i dose the main tank or are they bb killers ? Qt isnt a big deal

Wait a bit. As clean water and salt should take care of it in a couple of days. I think maybe traumatic.

Both would kill ur BB. Eye issues are prob as strep and some gran negatives cause infection, mostly strep. Kanaplex should cover both. Give it some time. Let's see.

I like maracyn cause even my local Walmart has it. It does work. Easy access. The other stuff would have to go to a lfs for it. Plus Walmart is 24hrs.

IME, in a healthy established filtration system, Kanaplex will not have a negative effect on your bio bacteria. Having said that, I would start with just regular salt (sodium chloride) & plenty of clean water. Good luck Frank, and Happy New Year!

Hey neil long time...had some life crap going was away for a bit.... hope all is well with you and happy new year

Basically kanaplex covers some gram positive bacteria/fungus and mainly gram negative bacteria. While maracyn will cover a lot more gram positive bacteria and much less gram negative.

Plus ur BB is gram positive if I remember right.

Just read this abiut e.m

how is the eye doing? Clean water and salt will probably clear it. If you decide to treat definitely move to qt if you have the ability. No reason to expose the healthy fish to antibiotics if not needed. It very will could lead to resistance in the future.
