Are the cichlids Acarichthys heckelii, Aequidens metae and Aequidens pallidus hard to come by in the aquarium trade? I don't believe I've seen them in lfs.

Couple more questions:

Can a few of these stay in a 55 gallon?

And do any of these species have common names?

Anyone happen to own any of these? I think they are pretty cool fish.

My lfs doesn't carry any cichlids save for "mixed" africans and oscars... I don't know if it's because they're uncommon or if it's because we don't have any dedicated fish stores in town.

Google tells me:
Acarichthys heckelii = Threadfin Geophagus
Aequidens metae = Twin Spot Flag Cichlid
Aequidens pallidus = Doublespot Acara

Dunno really for the care of them, though, so I'll let someone more knowledgeable answer that question.

Heckeli and metae can be found if you search a little harder than normal. I would call pallidus a rarer acara type though.
