So i was at the pet store the other day and they had a bin of $1 books and they had the book titled "American Cichlids II: Large Cichlids," so i bought it.

I have little knowledge of cichlids to begin with.

My question is, this book was wrote in 1985 and revised in 1995, so how much has changed and been learned in the cichlid world since this book was written?

Thanks

This is a good book full of great photos and info, the only thing that may have changed is the genus of some of the cichlids, but this can change year to year anyway. Think I paid around $25 for it.

All of the collection data is still quite valid, and the best part of the book. I just it frequently despite it's age. As duanes said, a lot of the fishies genus might not be currently correct, but the rest of the info is dead on. Much more info than you can find on the internet. Killer deal for a $1, I got mine for $35 used.

Thanks people. I've been reading it. I really like it. I've notice that some of the fish in the book didn't not have scientific names at the time of this book, but sure they do now.

I also got the smaller book titled "A Fishkeeper's Guide to South American Cichlids"

Which i also got for $1. I was like no way i could pass up buying these.
