This forum has a sticky titled Websites for fish collectors, including state-by-state regulations, and under the Colorado heading there is a link to the fishing section of the DOW's website, which is basically worthless for anyone here interested in keeping natives, so I found the actual laws that apply...

#1201 B makes it ILLEGAL to collect fish from the wild....there have been some disagreements on this in the past....

#1201 C shows that it is, however, LEGAL to keep natives (obviously, they must be aquired legally)

Here is a list of Colorado Aquaculture Facilities by city, so that you can try to get your natives legally.

I'm not sure if all of these places will deal with people just looking for a few specimens, if any of you have dealt with any of these places, please let us know! Personally I am interested in Good Times Guide Service since it says they have black bullheads (been trying to get one for almost 2 years now).

Hopefully some of you will find this useful ;)

Those regulations are for people with lake licenses that allow them to keep native fishes in their lakes, not small-scale hobbyists.

#1201 B-This applies to EVERYONE in the state....
B.
Except as otherwise provided, no person may take or possess any live fish or viable gametes from the wild. No person may acquire live fish or viable gametes for possession pursuant to a commercial or private lake license unless they are acquired from a person who possesses a valid Colorado aquaculture facility permit issued by the Department of Agriculture or a valid aquatic wildlife importation licensed issued by the Division and they otherwise comply with all other applicable Wildlife Commission regulations.
#1201 C-This specifically states AQUARIA
Exemptions From License Requirements
1. No lake license, commercial or private, shall be required for persons to obtain and possess live fish for aquaria or private ponds as long as such ponds are closed systems, not connected to state waters. Live fish held in aquaria or private ponds shall not be released in state waters (Comm. Reg. #009A).

These are relevant to anyone in the state who keeps natives, not just people with lake licenses. Thats why it says "Exemptions from License Requirements"

Huh, they need to work on their headings because it makes it seem like those regulations only apply to those with a lake license.
