Red wood city
Hello, i am intersted in keeping some red belly pirahnas but i have never had any pirahna before so i need some general information, such as diet, tank size, tank mates and any other useful info. thank you.

Well i breed convict cichlids as live food for my jags, red devil, mayan and jds so i will use these as a source of live food. And i must ask why i should not try to shoal them???????

Your best bet for more than one is in even numbers. (example: 4, 6, 8,) BUT, you can't have just 2, otherwise that spells demise for one of them.

Mine is currently eating cichlid pellets, and catfish filets cut into small bits for him to eat. Then again, mine is only 4 inches long.

Also, try "blackwater" its this stuff in a yellow bottle at the pet/fish store, and it tints your water, but it has some stuff in it that your P(s) will enjoy. I bought it today, and already I've noticed a difference in my Whiplash's activity!!

BTW, Get them used to eating non-live foods, b/c you never know when your feeders may get sick, or something similar to this, and if your fish aren't prepared for it, it'll stress them out quite a bit, and they won't eat!!

Good Luck!!

"Like Sushi said, get them to eat non-live foods and use the blackwater extract, it works good. You can also buy some floating plants too "

also i recomend putting electrical tape on the light ( if floresent ) dimmens the light makse P more active. also i'd say get a powerhead, increased the water flo makes the water seem like the amazon where p's are from, so does blaco water made by Tetra aqua, so with a power head an black water and dim lights all mimicking the amazon, you p will be more active and swim more. also make sure you water is cycled plz!

but if you would liek to use live feeders they have a new substance you can put in you'r feeder tanks that will cure inerntan deasise ( wich is why feeders are not good ) if you treat the internal and/if they have extrenal you will be safe feeding live feeeders. its near the PH up and Zeo ammiona, its in a little pack, i belive its $4.99. i appolige but i belive its made by tetra aqua also just like black water.
