I know they are not "monster fish" but i was talked into getting on yesterday for 2 or 3 bucks. hes pretty cute. about 6 inches. he is a blue grey mettalic color with many black spots and a light stripe on his side, very long whiskers. the spots make him look dalmation like. he has a wide head. and a frog like face. I am big on spotted animals. I was just wondering what do these guys eat usually? what do you all recomend? and they dont get bigger than 8 inches right?

i was thinking blochii if its a four line pim then it is blochii they get around 10''-12'' max and actually eat alot of different things flakes and pellets will usually be eaten but if not some favorites are

shrimp
fish fillets (cod, herring, silver sides non fatter fish meat )
wroms of all types (blood worms make them go crazy and usually look like they swallowed a marble after eating)
krill
brine shrimp
mysis shrimp
all sorts of foods try a few different foods and see there not very picky

Red worms and (thawed) frozen krill with a little work.

What was the LFS feeding it?

I was post sniped with a better answer...
:D my bad just logged on a saw the thread first one i came to

forgot to say that the four lines they have are only when young they loose the pattern when older and its replaced by spots and blotches

i always thought they were pretty friendly, but I have one that was beating up my silver arowana that was a good inch or two longer.

mine would eat everything even cheapo top fin sinking shrimp pellets. they are more of a bottom feeder, so forget the flakes IMO.
