Hey, i need some info on the goonch, specifically the bagarius bagraius. I really want to get one of these guys but i need to know some things. I know the basics about them but i need a little more information. Also, if any one know where i could get one that would be greatly apprciated too!

i am kind of curious about them myself. i know they look cool, but the most important question is how active they are. do they move around much? i would hate to dedicate a huge tank to only one fish that mostly sits in a corner

Goonch's are extremely aggressive and will eat anything and i mean anything that goes in front of them, so a tank mate will not be an option.
If you are going to get a goonch then i hope you have a 4000+ gallon tank or pond since a goonch is know to reach 5 - 9 feet. Goonch's are carnivorous so you must feed daily doses of meat and/or pellets if the goonch will accept it. Some great foods for this fish are...
-Tilapia
-Trout
-Bass
-Silver sides
- Hikari sinking pellets
- New life spectrum pellets
One thing you must never feed are live feeder since they are extremely bad for the fish and they can carry deadly parasites.
Remember the goonch has large teeth so don't be putting your hand in the tank.
Here are some place's you can buy a goonch

I think their tempermant is different with every fish. I've kept many of them big & small and never noticed aggresion to fish it couldnt swallow.

Bagarius Yarelli is the big kind. Bagarius Bagarius does not get near 5-9 feet.

In fact the largest Bagarius Yarelli I have heard of in captivity was 30 inches. They do okay with most fish that can't fit in there mouth. They love a high level of current in the tank as well. Talk to fugupuff he knows ALOT about them and recently had a batch of Indian Bagarius Yarelli. He has a disclaimer in the rare fish section also showing that this is not always an easy fish to keep and they sometimes die for unknown reasons even after eating and acting fine for 2-4 weeks.
