My LFS can get cortez rays now. I would like some info on them. I plan on putting it in a 75 gallon grow out tank.

Typical tropical ray. Mid 70s to 80F for temp, lots of space to swim, lots of water to displace the bioload of one. 75 will work for a small one for awhile.
They are fairly good eaters once you get them going. Remember things like iodine and thiamine when picking out food choices.

Ok for food I was planning on giving it silver sides that had been soaked in selcon would that be ok?

I'd lean towards things like krill and chopped clam. They are closer to the invert foods these guys munch on in the wild.

Also, something I added to my home rotation of food is a shark/ray gel cube from Ocean Nutrition. It's loaded with some of the stuff that frozen foods wil lack (like the thiamine, iodine, vit E and B12).

I like the shark/ray gel diet from Mazuri as well, but it can be hard to find in small amounts.

i havew always had trouble with the cortez rays, i had one live out of 4 that i had, they werew in a large lagoon, all the other specis i had did well for me just had bad luck myself with the cortez , i think i had a problem with internal parasites with those ones hope your s do good for you tho i will try them again in the future

I can get one from a MAC LFS so I hope it wouldnt have internal parisites. And I didnt know anyone made Food for sharks and rays I will really look into that. And thanks for helping me start this up!

What is the proper size tank for one of these Matt? I am interested in getting one.

They actually stay fairly small compared to a lot of rays. I've seen them kept in stuff just over 100 gallons (assuming it's a short tank with a nice broad foot print).
i want to say max record size is just over 20" across the disc (or something crazy huge), but most are under 10". I've never seen one over 12" size in person, and have kept dozens over the years.

Thank you all so much for your help. The cortez ray will being going in a 48" 36" 18" not a 75 gallon. I would also like to keep a coral catshark or marbled catshark in with the cortez ray would that work. Thanks
