I have just bought a large aquarium with various catfish in it but also there is a single Dat...I know little about them so thought I would be on the beg for some info. He eats prawn and other bits of fish and blood worm etc. He isnt huge (will try to get a pic). But Im after info on what they are like, Im presuming agressive..?? What sort of price do they sell for if I was looking to buy more..?? Anthing else I should feed him,..?? Are Cichlids suitable tank mstes..?? He is living with several species of cat fish and two large angelfish at the moment and has been for quite a long time.

This is him, but when he was smaller...the ex owner sent me this...

 Indo datnoid. Eats Market prawns, bloodworms, smelt, and possibly pellets if u train it. These type of fish are agressive enough to fend for themselves. Keep the water clean and he will show very nice colors. These fish run a good price. depending on where you are, they can be 100 for just a 4-5" one. From the looks of it, the datnoid is stable which is a plus as well. Keep him good. This species will become an extinct rarity soon and may pitch an even better price.

Is the price tag still on the dat?

Check the sticky's in the Datnoid forum, their is a great deal of info there. Cichlids will work with dats. And try to feed them a vary of foods. Dats cost, here in the states, About $15 for a 1'' dat.

Hi bud, what kind of catfish are they and how big is the dat?
Ive never seen dats cheaper than £40 from wharf at about 2'5"and wildwoods is usually dearer,i would have thought the dat will attack the angels sooner or later, but i could be wrong.
My old 5" one used to have a go at my 19" at the time rtg, until he finally got fed up with him doing it,and well you guess the rest:cry:.
Is there anything else in mid or top levels or just the angels.

i like the papuan indo datz. they have the gold n chocolate coloration. they are about 25 dollars apiece for the 10" ones back here in indonesia. but nevertheless nice fish.

thats a nice stable indo tiger fish

if you want to move it no give me a shout i will buy it

Thanks for the info guys. He is curently in a tank with two large Angelfish, two Hoplo Catfish, a Clown Loach, a Striped Dora, a Bumblecatfish and the tank is 180litres. Before anyone shouts at me I bought the set up complete so he came with it.
I dont know what to do for the best, will he be ok in this for the time being, he is currently 4-5 inches nose to tail. What sort of price would I realistically get for him at this point..?? He is mighty cheesed off at being moved.
