I've got a 12" or so Neosilurus hyrtlii, or Eel tailed cat. It eats everything I put in, and often digs amongst the subtrate with the 8" syno multi that's in the tank.

I think it's only put on 2" in the past year or so? Does this sound right?

I've no experience with any Assie cats but I read about them every now and then. If you are sure of the species ID, it looks like your guy is not that far from a reported max length: http://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=349 of 14" SL or, I am guessing, ~16" TL.

Hopefully, Australian MFK members will come through for you, albeit I've never seen any threads on this exact species (again, if the ID is right). Your other option is to post on Planet Catfish.

Judging from only one photo in Planet's Cat-eLog, it must be quite rarely kept / available.

I'm not to sure either just wanted to say that cat is awesome! Always nice to see Aussie cats on the forum :)

Nice catfish. I havent owned this one but i have had others from that family (plotosus canius and tandanus tandanus). The growth of your cat seems fine as he is pretty much full grown. As long as he eats good i wouldnt worry try Predatory Fish Keepers you should be able to get more info there. Im currently waiting on some tandanus tandanus right now myself eel tails are some of my favorite cats. Good luck with him.
