Info On Green Terror

My GT has a spot on each side that is sometimes black and sometimes looks silver or white. What is this and why does it change colors?

Cichlids, just like most fish, will change colors based on their stress level.

I think its a mood thing not stress or age. The spot becomes black when hes feeding or being aggressive otherwise it's the silver or white color.
