Ok so this is kinda embarrassing....I thought i had bought a fire belly newt but after looking as pictures online i discovered i was wrong and its a paddle tail newt. I guess i got mixed up because of the color of the underside but he has the long tail like a paddle so thats what he is. Any info on these guys? Ive seen some videos on youtube and someone had theirs with cichlids and a BGK, so could a paddle tail newt go with my bichirs in my 75? Hes not small enough to be eatin but would it be ok for him? Any advice is appreciated :) thanks.

Ive been reading that they cold water so the 75 is out of the question but if anyone else has advice on them plz tell :)

Yep, they need water just as cold as Firebellies... They just get much bigger... over 6". They are predatory, so feed Mysis, bloodworms, and Tilapia fillet. They are even less active than Firebellies, so you could probably... dare I say it... keep one in a 5. And once again, no, you cam't mix them with fish. You can actually keep Firebellies with SMALL coldwater fish, like Mosquitofish, but Paddletails will eat them. But just like Firebellies, they need cold water and they are poisonous.

Thankyou for the reply, it was some great help.

Happy to help :D Paddletails are very cool. They look like small Crocodiles, and in the wild, they eat smaller Newts and Frogs. They don't live in stagnant mountain pools like Firebellies though, they live in streams, so you'll want to add an airstone for airation. But don't leave a hole for the tube... try to drill one somewhere. Just like Firebellies, they can systematically climb out of the tank.
