thinking of picking up one
not now but in the near future
can anyone give me info on how big of a tank they need
type of filtration?
are they as messy as an oscar
do they need filtration like a oscar which is alot
thanks guys
been researching online and everyone seems to have mixed thoughts!

Best bet is to look for the max size on each of the Pbass, then adjust to tank from there. As for growth rate for each, varies. A 180gal would be good for a while, but not recommended for the larger cichla type. If money is no issue, I would go with 4 Kelberi's and hope for a pair. Filtration for a 180gal, I would go with two FX5's. Not really messy eaters. Sure as hell not as messy as oscars.

Nope. All The Pbass that I had were no where near as messy as Oscar. Just wondering if gazelle was speaking from experiences or hear say.

Not really messy eaters .They eat and poop alot!!!!They have varacious apetites like an oscar. But they are not messy like an oscar with food spewing out of their gill plates like an oscar!!!

well i got offerd a Peacock bass
dont have room for it now
but would like to get a tank that is right for the bass
didnt no that there was different kinds of peacock bass?
just thought there was one?
the one that grows 25inch on average
i was thinking of getting a 300 gallon tank with 2 fx5 maybe 3 for filtration
my stock would be
my 1 oscar
my fire eel
2 severums
plus the new peacock bass after i upgrade
i dont want to over stock
i rather be way understocked

That woul be a great set up.Look around on the threads decide witch you like .But one thing if your going to get bass get at least three they just seem to do better.I don't know why but they do!!! Haynchinook and some others on here have alot more experiance than i do ,Look through old threads to help yourself to get prpared for them.

alright will do
well three PB plus the addtional fish
