just looking for some info on difrent tipes of pikerel ( tank size, temp, other reqerments) ow and might be stuped to ask but has enyone ever heard of keeping triplods if sow could you ofer some info. And NO!!!!! Iam NOT KEEPING ENY OF THESE FISH!!!!!!!!
SOW DONT BLAME ME!!!

there are Chain pickerel, grass pickerel, redfin (subspecies of the grass I Think), and there are other members of the essox family too, like northern pike, and muskie. All get huge and need a pond eccept grass redfin and chain.

yea klmt nailed it right on the head
chain pickerel get the biggest by far, id day maybe 2 foot in home aquarium ive seen them in the wild up to 40 inches
grass pickerel get about a foot im assuming redfins about the same
you should be able to keep redfins and grass in a 75 for life easy but a chain would need at least a 150 imo
i also dont think chain's do well unless they have a lot of territory they cover alot of ground and are mostly solitary id say you could keep two grass in a 75 around there

ya i was in a rush but to elaborate, Redfin and grass get about 12", these are IMO the best fish for aquarium keeping. They would need at least a 55 gal for 1, any more youd have to upgrade to a 75. They are coldwater fish so don't use a heater. Room temp if perfect. They are solitary fish, but can be housed with others(as long as they can not fit the other fish in their mouth. They enjoy sitting back in grasses or sticks, and do not move a whole lot unless you drop in a few feeders. They can be quite hard to get off live, but good foods include market shrimp, krill, and you can train them to eat pellets. Also when picking suitable tankmates i would advise more peacfull fish because the pickerel will not stand up for itself if picked on. fish such as madtoms or smaller bullheads would work as well as some orangespotted sunfish, or banded sunfish, crappie, in a big enough tank would work as well as perch. Any more Questions just ask.

yea as kmlt stated dont need a heater i personally think a 75 give syou more options for tank mates and aquascaping wise ytou could make some real cool weed beds this way, im hoping to get some grass pickerel over the summer

i dont have one, but look em up on Google
