They have indeed been bred in captivity. From my experience they do not seem to have too much color until they reach around 7 inches. Their max size, I have to guess to be 10 inches.

They are eartheaters of the Satanoperca genus, very closely related but not quite geophagus.
I've seen 6-7" inch ones spawn, but I've never spawned them myself yet so I don't know.
Thanks. I have 5 of them in my 90 gallon tank. They are starting to color up a little. Was told there are 2 males and 3 females. Do you think they act like most cichlids and pair up,then chase the others away from their territory?

I have spawned them. I was never able to retrieve free swimming fry out of the mouth brooding stage though unfortunately. Mine spawned around the 6" mark. They have been bred in Europe as well as state side.
