I am thinking on ordering a super red severum from jeff rapps. I am looking for some information. like:
1: What is the growth rate?
2: Are they the same aggression as a regular severum?
3: I have heard that they can randomly die is this true?
And any other info would be great please.

they grow fast but once they are 6" they slow down.

3: I have heard that they can randomly die is this true?
^:grinno:

and all severum have there own personality.

they're just like other severums, but "red". same growth rate, aggression can vary from fish to fish, never heard of them randomly dying

i read somewhere that the red severums were actually a hybrid with something is this true?

Their not a hybrid, it's more like a color morph. It's selective breeding. Kind of like EBJD.

yeah i know they have the gold color morph as well i forgot where i read it but thats weird i wonder why they were saying the red one was hybrid... but thats good to know because i was ready to cross the red ones off my list of potential new fish if they were

ya i know but they grow up to be so amazing looking and a little pricey. I am more than likely going to get one. They have the same basic needs of a regular severum right, since their just a color morph?

Treat them pretty much like any other sev. They are definately a weaker fish though. They get split fins really easy and are more likely to get sick them most other severums. I would not call the sickly or particularly hard to keep though. Just compared to most severums (which are as hardy as they come) they are not as strong.

They are line bred from gold severums. They are not hybrids. This is why they are weaker. Gold severums are line breed from greens. So you then line breed a line bred fish to get a red severum which leads to them being not as hardy.
