Hi Guy's

First of all the infomation for Trust and the rest of the guys who were concered about my Aro's sluggishness, He has recovered and eating well again very active patroling the water's surface as he normaly would.

Thanks to everyone who gave me advice, I'm happy as a pig in s**t.

Now for some advice and some guidence.

I have a 13" Fire Eel But i have never ever seen him eat, I feed my fish every other day to keep the bio load down, Anyway i put in frozen bloodworm and diced up prawns even krill in to my tank but he shows no interest in what i'm putting into the tank, One day i fed the fish made sure they were all full then i gave my Fire Eel a big chunk of blood worm put it right under his nose he looked at it then swam away.

So i'm a little concerned as to weather or not he's eating ????????

What do you guys think ?

Is he a new addition or have you had him for a while? I had a fire eel that I only seen 4 or 5 times for the year and a half I had him. Then he vanished. Never did find out what happened to him. Strange.

I've had him for about 6 months but i have only just realized now that i don't see him eating, Obvously he must be if he's still alive six months later but is he eating enough ? he's not half as fat as the ons in my LFS and they are all of similar size.

tried feeding with the lights off?

im sure its getting food somehow. they do scower the bottom of the tank and scavenge. and they're not a very active fish. you can also try a divider and seperate during feeding, feed at night and when lights are out, then check in the morning how much food is left on its area.

Did you look under your fridge?

When I helped PetCo remove the 10 year old fish system, I saw about a dozen or so SW Eels that were 'french fries' underneith the tanks. No wonder Petco stinks so bad!

I would try live earthworms and blackworms.. The blackworms will go inside the substrate, and should be easy for the eel to forage for them. I would say throw in a bunch of guppies, but not with those tankmates.
