I have been offered an AU lungfish which is about 18months old and only about a foot plus long. The problem with this lung fish is that a murray cod has bitten on the front left pectoral fin... its litterly a stub. My question is will this grow back. Im assuming not but just wondering. Im tempted to swap for him as the owner wants my gator gar... the lunggie looks like he really needs some TLC ... its quite pale and looks underfed.

Hey mate, thats a bargain I guess. A lungfish from a breeder would usually cost 500 per juvenile so you caught yourself a bargain. Lungfish are known to be hardy and live up to 100 years (fast healing metabolisme like above poster stated)

Off topic: How much/cost did you get your gar mate? :P sorry to derail the trade

i got the gar cheap..real cheap .. from someone who was leaving the hobby for a while. I bought it as a Florida gar as it was still quite small ...13inch ... its around 27inch now. Im now selling it at cost to a mate of mine whos setting up a 8x3x2 tank for it. Rather it go to a mate then to the aquarium as i dont know who would buy it.

LOL, i would want that gar though :p.

If i aint wrong, its considered as noxious fish in Queensland.
Well, its not like I have a tank thats big enough to keep it anyway:P

If you have them you can keep them on permit no problem.

Personally, I would go for the lung any day. One stump for a fin is not going to hurt it.
