I'm having a hard time finding much information on this species but I'm thinking about ordering one from Jeff Rapps. Does anyone have any info on them? Do they work well as tankmates for standard tiger O's? I'd really like to get one so any information would be really helpful.

Orbics are still Oscars, require the same care level. Their fins are bigger than what you would call a standard O, not Veiltail big, but bigger than tiger, Lutino etc. Mixing Oscars is always a coin toss, especially if one has already settled into its tank. 2 Oscars need a 6frt 125g tank as minimum long term home, contrary to some of the idiotic claims of 2 in a 55 or some related BS. I have a bud that just got an Orbic from Rapps, very nice Oscar. If you have the room, by all means get one, its a very cool Oscar.

Here's some pics of my orbics I absolutely love him took some time for him to adjust but once he came around he was awesome. Attacks the tank if I linger to close hand feeds and looses his damn mind if he sees my cell phone (very aggressive towards me lol) but he shows no aggression to an asian bumble bee catfish that is much smaller than him. As suprd71 stated they are oscars after all so not much different in the care dept. Theres debate on the net wether its a different but closely related species or
Just a different color morph either way great fish I say get one you wont regret it.

I love the pics! If I were to get one he'd be with three other oscars in a 200 gallon tank. I have a RTGG in the tank as well but I will be relocating him soon.

Some more pics hard to get pics of him he goes ape **** when he sees the cell phone. His colors changes so quickly from the yellow bands, to all black , to brown and red to green. This is him being pissed off

One thing ibwas told by another member who had orbics in the past was that they are tougher than a reg O and can stand up to other aggressive fish he said that his orbic had no problem handling an aggressive green terror. Again my O hasn't shown any aggression I think your good post some pics when you get him
