From my experience with burundi frontosa, I would say they are relatively peaceful. Mine have done better in groups larger than five. When I had just two (females) together they would fight, not just fin nip, but MMA style! Conversely, as a group, with larger dominant males, a hierarchy is established and less dominant males/females seem to know their place in the aquarium. Fights have been limited to a quick chase by the dominant fish and a retreat by the lesser fish. That's it, no hunting your *** down and smashing, chewing, thrashing, and shredding of fish parts.
I found that using tons of drift wood, rather than pots or pipes worked best for me. I believe that the boundaries are less defined when wood is arranged in a woven maze; therefore, defense of territory is not as obvious/witnessed. Basically, no clear cut walls, spaces, or enclosures to claim. Yet, still providing a comfortable environment to rest and retreat. Hope this helps you my friend!
