Ok i inherited an 9.5 inch ruby red oscar, so is now residing in my 175G bow that was gonna be a planted tank for numerous small fish..well thats out now so what fish would make good tank mates for the oscar?

sofar he seems to be calm but he spent the last 48 hours in a 5g bucket and has only been in the tank for a couple hours and he is the only inhabitant at the moment

iam a salty guy so iam not up to date on freshies

mayby a knife?????? if so which one???

other sugestions??????

there is a chance of an inherited synodon(sp) catfish with the 2nd possible inherited oscar..not sure which one it is at the moment as i have not seen the cat or 2nd oscar yet (from my lfs)

you really could do just about any larger cichlid(if thats what you're looking for) with just one oscar (except for dovii and pbass)

any pics of the tank?:)

well i think the tank is prety well stocked with freebees

the lfs called an hour ago for me to come pick up a few fish so the total pick up of freebees are listed below

1st oscar 9.5" ruby red(one that started this thread)
2nd oscar 8" tiger
irridescent "shark" 12"
synodontis (sp) catfish 5" (olive green color)
common pleco 12"
common pleco 10"
