so when i got home, i found that my polyp had a red bump on near the end of his tail. i kept an eye on him and found out that he was snooping into my clown knife's cave, and i dont know why. i figured it was because the two have been fighting, but then again, he might have hurt himself on the live rock. can u guys help me identify his injury, and possibly provide a solution. are meds required in this situation? thanks in advanced!

did this bump just appear suddenly? if so its probably an injury. in any case, you want to keep it from getting infected. keep water clean, add salt, add melafix/pimafix if you have them. if you have an antibiotic ointment (like neosporin, polysporin etc.), you can apply a liberal amount on the wound as part of the treatment. monitor and make sure it doesn't get worse. if it does, you might wanna consider stronger meds like antibiotics that you add directly in the water, and you will wanna do that in a hospital tank.

thanks for the quick post. i had already started treatment on with the melafix before i even submitted the thread. and had already added salt to the tank too. i just wanted to make sure there was nothing else that i could have done to help my little buddy. thanks for ur help thoug, really appreciate it. :)

hope he will be okay..he is a real cutie!

agree if it was a quickly sustained injury (not something that has grown) then just add the melafix, and some salt. make sure there is still a good oxygen supply
