Has anybody got advice for treating an injured Black Ghost. I added him to my tank yesterdy and this morning he has "lost" most of his tail section (both white banded areas). I use a tablespoon of salt per 20litres and have never had any signs of fin-rot in the tank. I dont think any of his tank mates would have caused this injury and can only assume the fish has snagged himself somewhere. If he pulls through (he seems to act as normal and feeds well) is there any chance of him regenerating a new tail??

It is obvious that somebody took a bite. What are the other tankmates? Fin rot would not happen overnight. Sorry to hear this.

2 Clown loach, 2 Pangassius 3", 2 Pictus 3", Hoplo 4", corys, tiger barbs, kissing gourami, black widow tetra, chinese algae loach, albino dwarf frog. The catfish maybe?? Tiger barbs may have had a nibble but cant see them causing that much damage.

I actually think maybe the frog. Albinos are in fact not 'dwarf' and they are voracious.

I'll keep my eye on him - thanks for advice

Frog dead - Black ghost is alive. 50% of the missing piece has regenerated. Hooray.

Since it's acting normal, you got nothing to worry about. As for the tail growin back, it might grow back, but it might not look the same as before.
