I bought a new Dojo loach a week ago. He is very thin compared to my female. No lie, half her thickness. I'm assuming malnutrioned, but his bottom half of his body has turned reddsih like a bruise. My theory is that since we've had crazy weather maybe he's anemic [for lack of better wording], from the malnutrion and bruising from the thrashing he does when it rains and storms like it has been lately.

As a precaution, I also did a partial water change. But, I'm almost positive it's a combination of not being well fed and bruising. Any thoughts or ideas???

Only thing to do with injuries is keep maintaining clean water to avoid secondary infections.

Give him higher protein foods to help with the malnutrition--he will love shrimp and bloodworms. Malnurished fish are more susceptible to injury and disease and heal more slowly. You may want to quarantine him in a tank where he's less likely to bash against sharp or jagged rocks and doesn't have to compete for food.
