need advise, one of my datnoids has injured its eyes, not sure how it happened. The clear part of the eye has been injured. His tankmates are some other dats, 3 black diamond rays and an arowana.

How should i treat? I've added salt into the sump. Anything else i can do?

Keep the water clean (ammonia 0, nitrite 0, and nitrate <40ppm). Post some pics.

Thanks!! Moved him to a hospital tank and treated with melafix and salt.
Hope the eye recovers, itvstarted with just a slit on the clear film

Gosh that looks pretty bad.I've seen my share of dat eye injuries and I'm afraid that that one will not heal.
Was the dat in a fight or being chased around by another fish?

Not sure, but before it turned white, onlybthe white film had a cut on it. Im not aure what caused the eye injury though my arowana doesnt seem to mind the tigers, and i dont think tigers bite each others eye? Only other fish with them are my rays.

Could be from rays. Yea that eye is likely lost. How is it behaving?

....not what I was getting at but one the others could have taken a snap at the eye and caused the tear.I suspect it must have brushed past something whie being chased.

when i posted this , the eye was still clear.
I'm, hoping extra dose of salt and melafix can still save the eye.

a few weeks ago, i had a dat which looks like it has been stung by my ray near the mouth , it has recovered since not sure if its this piece though.

gotta give them more space and move one of my arowana back to the pond.

will post update , I'll make a water change and redose with salt and melafix.

The eye won’t be lost as long as the actual ball doesn’t get infection. It will heal with salt, clean water and melafix but it’s going to take probably 2weeks.

Thanks , here's an update of the eye. Inside looks intact. Can see the tear on the clear film. Will continue daily water change with redosing of salt and melafix.
