i have 3" baby flowerhorn. just bought it 2 days ago and i put it in a 30 gallon with my flowerhorn which is a little bigger than him. i have a divider to separate them from getting to each other. its been hard to me to feed him cause he keep running away from me. and this evening somehow he jump over into the female side and my female got him really bad. idk if he can make it. i was hard for me to feed him already but now idk if he can even eat because my female ripped half of his mouth. he is still small im worrying about him. i moved him into a 10 gallon healing tank. the temperature is 84 degree and i have a hang on back filter for him and it making little bubbles for him to breathe. i also added in half a tea spoon of aquarium salt. if there is any other way u guys know that would heal him faster or better please tell me. thank you!

It sounds like you are taking the right steps for an injured fish. You may want to post on the Hybrids section or the South/Central American Cichlids section if you want a more experienced opinion on a Flowerhorn. They may be able to tell you something more specific there.

He will be fine I'm sure i had a baby jaguar cichlid with the same injury. It took time it healed and wasn't even to noticeable and looked worse than yours did. Think you should keep up clean warm water with salt. Good luck sir

thank you for replying. its been 3 days since the injury. he look like already healed up a bit but i was wondering that if his jaw can grow back. when i look at think it make me think about one of those horror movie when a guy missing half of his face. now i think he scared of me like when i walk in the room he would swim into his cave and hide. his tank is on the other side of the room far away from my door. is there a way for me to make him not get scared of me? sorry for the bad pics i took these with my phone while trying to lure him out and not scared him.

He should grow more and more accustomed to your presence...over time of course. Maybe try hand feeding so that he associates you with food and stops seeing you as a potential threat (not that you are, lol). I don't think his jaw will completely grow back (depends if any bone was lost...if not, then it might) ...but just keep taking good care of him so he heals the best he possibly can.

I think you made a good choice in moving him. Over time his attitude will change, he's probably stressed from the move and having his face bit like that. I think he will heal well with your care. It doesn't look like the jaw bone is broken. Good luck. Hope to see a speedy recovery.

I've had malawii grow lips back, should grow back fine if water is nice and clean.

Good luck, he will be a stunner again in a few months.

His wound is close up. Just his jaw now that is still healing. I'm paying close attention to him everyday to see if he is doing fine or if he medicine. Now when I feed him I turn the light off and turn my lamp on so he can just see me and I could see him. I'm trying to get him to get use to me in the dark first and slowly turn the light on so he get use to me. Now he seem to be more comfortable around the tank just still a bit scared of me. Thank you for replying guys I was really worried when he got injure because I never had a flowerhorn that was injure at that size before
