Hi, i noticed yesterday morning that one of my ACF's has an injured leg. His entire thigh area is purple and seems like its filled with blood. Im pretty sure he got bit by one of my small bichirs overnight. Just wondering if this is something that is going to cure itself? Should i attempt to drain the blood? Will his leg die, resulting in his death? Any help would be greatly appreciated! uploadfromtaptalk1354828607270.jpguploadfromtaptalk1354828626903.jpg

I can't really give too much relevant advice, but please, don't drain.

For the few occasions I've seen someone do something along the lines of that, it doesn't end well.

Okay, i haven't drained. And he seems fine. He eats fine and swims fine. It doesnt seem like it bothers him at all...I've never heard of red leg but if it is what it sounds like then that might be what he has.

Red leg is literally red leg, and it tends to be fatal quite fast.

I doubt that is the illness you're dealing with.

You do know that bichirs natural prey items are ACF's!?!?

Even a senegal bichir when it gets bigger could tear a good chunk out of one. Ever seen the teeth on one? Your bichir may be small now, but it will grow and poor ACF will be dead one day. Please move someone around. It makes no sense to keep actual prey and predator items together. It might not happen for years or tommorow, but your acf will get killed.
