i recently got a half banded eel and hes been doing very well, eating the first day frozen blood worms and such, but a couple days ago i didnt see him, so i didnt worry just cause i know they can hid, but after a couple days of not seeing him i decided to try and find him, long story short i found him in my filter, very alive but with an injury looks like a laceration, it doesnt seam to affect his swimming, his color is just as good as when i got him and hes eating, so im wondering if i could do a melafix bath or something to help, but im not sure if they will be affected in an unforseen way cause of his lack of scales, so has anyone used melafix on spiny eels without ill effects?

I recommend just adding salt to help with the healing. If it's eating and acting normal, you shouldn't really have anything to worry about as long as the wounds aren't really deep. If you want to use melafix, your eel should be fine because there's nothing that I know of that could harm your fish since it's all natural. I've used it to help a red tail cat I had before to help it heal some wounds from some weird bacteria that was eating away at its skin.

i cant use salt because i have an upside down catfish and some cory cats and dont want to stress them out, i just want to make sure the eel doesnt get infected

It won't harm them at all as long as you don't put too much. I always add salt to all my tanks and it hasn't affected any of them as long as I don't go over 1 tbsp/5gal and this has been the main treatment I always see when someone asks about an injured or sick fish. It has helped me and many others out. Just don't add more than the 1tbsp/5gal.
